When and where will my child's music lesson take place?
Lessons take place during the school day. Your child's instrumental teacher will visit school on the same day each week.
Pupils learn to play in small groups of up to three pupils and length of lessons varies depending on the number of pupils in the group. Lesson charges vary a little from school, but the cost is normally in the region of £5.10 per week. In some cases, individual lessons can be arranged.
Do I need to purchase an Instrument?
In most cases we do not reccomend that you buy your own instrument to start with. Wigan Council runs its own flexible instrument hire scheme which makes auquiring your first instrument as simple and affordable as possible. Our instruments are not all new, but they are in good order and you can be sure that they are the correct specification for your child's first stage of learning.
Please note: The music service does not hire keyboards/pianos. Parent/Carers should purchase their own from a high street retailer ensuring that is has full size keys.

What should I do now?
