Welcome to Reception!
Reception is a safe, stimulating and happy environment where children are nurtured and cared for. We work in partnership with our parents and carers to ensure that our children reach their full potential, learning through their play.
Members of staff in Reception:
Miss Burns - Class Teacher

Mrs Gallagher - Teaching Assistant
Miss Chivers - Teaching Assistant
Miss Walton: 1:1 Support
Miss Pulford: 1:1 Suport
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is built around both indoor and outdoor environments. These are designed to allow the children to develop the confidence and independence they need to become engaged in their learning. Resources are clearly labelled and stored in a way which enables the children to get them out and put them away by themselves. This encourages them to develop a sense of care and responsibility towards their classroom and they can make their own choices about what to use and when to use it.
There are 7 Areas of Learning in the EYFS curriculum. We deliver the curriculum through planned, purposeful play that is based upon the interests and learning needs of each unique child.
The 7 Areas of Learning are:
Prime Areas
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Communication and Language
Specific Areas
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
Outdoor Play
Children are able to access a wide range of learning areas including, among others, sand, water, large construction, messy play and a mud kitchen. The outdoor area is seen as an integral part of Reception’s provision and it has been planned to enable those children who prefer to learn outside for some or most of the time to engage in the same quality of learning as they would indoors.
Physical Education
Every Monday afternoon Reception will have a PE lesson. Children's hair should be tied up and earrings removed, if necessary.
Snack
We charge termly for toast, and also provide milk and fruit daily. This helps the children to learn about the importance of a healthy and balanced diet.
